    Capturing Auroras – A Photography Workshop in Luosto

    Learn the basics of photographing the magnificent Aurora Borealis

    Description

    Learning the basic skills and camera settings for photographing Aurora Borealis, the northern lights. An instructive presentation on how to capture them will be held at Tikkalaavu by bonfire with a guide. He will walk you through the settings of your camera and give helpful tips while the auroras might blazing in the sky.

    Bliss guide will wait for the clients at Hotel Luostotunturi's reception. After meet and greet, the guide will take the clients to Tikkalaavu, which is a mere 15 minute walk away. Once the group arrives to the venue, guide will do a short presentation about northern lights and basic camera settings. The guide will help the clients to set up the cameras so that everyone is ready to start shooting once the auroras present themselves!

    A helpful “Capturing Auroras” pocket-sized guide will be handed to all the participants.

    There will be hot berry juice available for all of the photographers.

    Capturing Auroras Photography Workshop lasts 2,5 hours. No Auroras? No problem. Let's photograph starry sky! No starry sky? No problem. Let's do the light-painting with headlamps and capture that!

    Before the Photography Workshop

    Charge your batteries and take spare ones with you (keep the batteries close to your body to keep them warm)

    Clean the lens and check that your camera works (e.g. take a photo)

    Empty your memory card and take spare ones with you

    Activate the Northern Lights alarm system to your phone here (free of charge to all visitors in Luosto) 

    Getting there and away

    From Rovaniemi, the closest airport and Santa Claus’ headquarters, it takes 1,5 hours by car or by Skibus to reach us in Luosto (Lapland Hotel Luostotunturi). 

    Kindly note that 10% of the price of your tour is non-refundable. The 10% will be used to cover fees connected to your booking such as credit card transactions and other administrative charges. Refunds will only be issued to the card used to purchase the tour.

    Essentials to pack for an activity

    Suitable personal clothing for winter weather including warm boots, hat and gloves or mittens. Complimentary hot berry beverages included.
