Description
This snowshoe walk takes you into the ancient woods along lakes and mystic mires. The forest you see is part of the oldest forests in Lapland. We live near the wilderness area Muotkatunturi, which is like a "second living room" to us. Our place is tranquil; we cannot even see the lights of our nearest neighbour. Upon arrival, you will learn more about our home and lifestyle in the Arctic, where bushcraft skills are an integral part of everyday life.
During the snowshoe walk, we observe possible animal tracks and nearby feeding birds. By mid-February or early March, we start looking for the first Pine Grosbeaks to return. After the walk, you enjoy an open-fire hot drink and local snacks in our wooden kota hut.
Included
- guided walk by a local biologist
- snowshoes and walking poles
- open-fire coffee / tee with local snack

Please note
We walk on paths and in the snow at a slow pace. Our route rises on a small hill nearby. You do not need any previous experience with snowshoes. The walk takes about 1½ hours. Please, see the video about correct winter clothing on our Activities site. For example your shoes need to be large enough, your socks should be non-cotton socks (at least two pairs) and you should wear many layers of clothing according to the prevailing weather conditions.
Children must be accompanied by a parent.
The guiding languages are English and Finnish. However, we can help also in German.
Essentials to pack for an activity
