This traditional and thousands of years old trade has remained nearly unchanged and is still commonly practiced in Lapland. The animals are well accustomed to the hard weather in the north and reindeer husbandry operates fully according to a cycle dictated by nature. For example, in summer most of the reindeer do not spend time at the farm but head out to the wilderness, where they herd in their most natural habitat. In snow-heavy winters the reindeer may need help with feeding.

Transportation
If you wish to be add transportation, please add it during reservation. Your pickup time will be informed after making the booking & pickups start 30 minutes before the experience.

When you wish to arrive on your own, make sure to arrive to the farm on time – if you arrive early, wait us at the parking lot for the starting time. Don't be late and please do not enter the farm without a guide.

Winter Clothing
10€ / Person

Winter clothing is not included in this experience. If you need warm clothes and shoes, make sure to add it separately during reservation process.

Warm winter clothing and shoes will be given before heading to the farm. When arriving with your own car, make sure to have proper winter clothes or organise them through us in advance – Clothing needs to be picked up from Kairankutsu Office in Pyhätunturi and pick up time organised separately via email at kairankutsu@gmail.com No winter clothing will be provided at the farm.
