Bengtskär

Lighthouse on the southernmost destination Finland!
The lighthouse has been home to the families of the lighthouse guards, a pioneer for sailors and the center of a relentless battle during the war. You can hear the story of Bengtskär with guided tours and learn more about dramatic history at the lighthouse museum. In May, the lighthouse will turn into a nesting island for hundreds of eiders, and therefore fascinating eider trips will be made to Bengtskär. In summer, tide boats run daily and in the autumn weekly to Bengtskär from Kasnäs and Hanko. Bengtskär is also part of the 200 km long Cycling Coastal Route.

In co-operation with Visit Naantali, we welcome you to Bengtskär!

Nature of Bengtskär

History & Architecture

Bengtskär is a huge rugged rock in the open sea. When watching direction south of the island, you can only see endless sea, in best scenario also all the way to the Estonian coast. During stronger storms, waves can roll over the entire island. Severe conditions limit the survival of both animals and plants on the island. Especially survival during winter is challenging. Discover the magnificent nature of the lighthouse island.
