Pihtipudas

World's most beautiful stopping place as well as municipality representing the traditional rural landscape.
Pihtipudas is located in Central Finland. It is a small municipality. Population in Pihtipudas 3 934 and its area is 1 237, 49 Km. Neighbour municipalities are Haapajärvi, Keitele, Kinnula, Pielavesi, Pyhäjärvi, Reisjärvi ja Viitasaari. Pihtipudas is more based on nature and forests and therefore there is lot of nature activities for example you can go hiking and fishing to the lake Kolima. Famous attractions in Pihtipudas are Putaanportti and business center Niemenharju. Business center and tourist center Niemenharju was chosen most world's beautiful business center in 2017.

Putaanportti is business center which offers sport and freetime clothes, cosmetics, books, decoration and gifts, sweets and lots of other things. In Pihtipudas you can meet everybodies shared grandmother or grandmother of Pihtipudas. Grandmother house original resident Martta Saastamoinen lived at the time Lamminpää's cottage in the 20th century. Saastamoinen knitted clothes and regaled quests. Municipality bought the cottage many degades later and rehabilitated it as grandmother's house.

It is quite easy to transport to Pihtipudas for example Onnibus goes there but train is not an option. Of course you can go there easily by car because it is located along the quadrupeds. Main church was founded in 1783. Its maker was one of the most famous building master peasent Simo Jylkkä. First elementary school was founded in 1877.

Niemenharju is a tourist center where you can find caravan-area, restaurants, dance floor and accommodation. It is located next to Kolima Lake where you can do fishing, hiking and walk in the nature. Niemenharju has been awarded world's best Gas-Station in 2017.

Putaanportti Outlet is a business center where you can do shopping and eat. The Outlet is easy to reach, right next to the highway 4, so it is recommended to pay a visit when driving past. Their selection includes sports and leisure clothing, cosmetics, books, home decor and gifts, souvenirs, sweets and more. Explore well-known brands e.g. Lumene, Halti, Nanso and Finlayson.

Keitele is one of the biggest lakes in Finland. Start your trip by arriving to the cultural town of Jyväskylä, where you will stay your first night. Follow the designed path. The next recommended accommodation is between Laukaa and Äänekoski, where you will experience pure nature, local sauna and gastronomy in one place. Before getting to Salamanjärvi National Park, visit the small villages of Viitasaari, Pihtipudas, Kinnula and Kivijärvi.
