Lake Päijänne is the second largest lake in Finland. It is surrounded by rural landscape, idyllic towns and many islands. You can drive your way around the lake either clockwise or as recommended. Start your journey from Lahti and reach Jyväskylä in a day or two. You will drive past some of the most beautiful sceneries and landscapes in southern Finland. Check out the different activities that can be found on the planning site where surely you will find yourself and your company something to do along the road!

We have created this exciting route following the National parks of Päijänne, Leivonmäki, Konnevesi, Pyhä-Häkki and Salamanjärvi! You can also choose to start the trip from Salamanjärvi and drive direction south. For this route, you are going to be able to change it in the way you also like, but don't forget, to stay brave, visit all the National Park, take it as a challange!

A tour of Käsivarsi Wilderness Area by car

The mighty Saana fell in Kilpisjärvi is something to every Finn experiences at least once in a lifetime. However, many of them return over and over again. On a car trip from Rovaniemi towards the Arm of Finland, there are plenty of quaint villages and tourist attractions where you can stop for a little break. On your way there you can choose the route that travels via Levi and Muonio to Kilpisjärvi, with the return trip following the western border of Lapland along the great rivers Tornionjoki and Muonionjoki.
