Korppoo

Korpo consists of about 2 000 islands, islets and skerries.
When you are in Korpo you should pay a visit to Korpoström, there you will find the Archipelago Centre and also a monument over the naval battle that took place there between Russians and Swedes in the year 1743. On Korpo you can also visit a local museum.

Korpo has a nature that is both leafy and has bare cliffs, in fall you can also hike in the nature when there is an ongoing storm or why not take a walk in the forest when the first snow has arrived. Take a stroll on one of the beaches, paddle in the beautiful sea, the archipelago nature lets you experience one terrific experience after another.

Archipelago Centre Korpoström

Wildlife & Nature

The center works in an interdisciplinary manner to create exhibitions and happenings with interesting angles of approach on matters and phenomena that are peculiar to the archipelago. The center also works as station for marine biology (Åbo Akademi University) and as base for the Archipelago National Park. At the Kids’ Lab our youngest visitors can be introduced to the diverse activities of the center. There center is located directly by the sea and is also a guest harbor, restaurant, hotel and has a shop with local handicraft and souvenirs.

Church of Korpo

History & Architecture

The Korpo church, which was not found as St. Michael's Church because it was consecrated to Archangel Michael, is located in Korpo church village in the town of Parainen in the Province of Southwest Finland. Only a few churches in Finland have a medieval church and the presence of a church building indicates the high age of the church. Korpo Church is one of these. The most special detail in the interior is a correlatorium, the only one of its kind in Finland that has been preserved.

Manor

History & Architecture

Korppoon Manor is one of the earliest manor houses created in the country by the influence of neo-antiquity. Korppoon Manor is one of the first private design assignments of architect Charles Bass in Finland and plays a central role in Finnish architectural history. The manor is located in the leafy and hilly archipelago landscape of Korpoo Church Village with a view of the medieval church in Korpoo.
