The ironworks village
The village is located by the freshwater Lake Matilda and the sea. The rugged 19th-century ironworks environment hides a modern village community with many of its 130 residents being entrepreneurs. During the summer, the number of residents multiplies with the arrival of leisure residents. The lively village hosts concerts, gigs, art exhibitions, theater, events and a variety of celebrations throughout the year.
At Mathildedal, you can choose between a bed and breakfast, a cottage or hotel accommodation. Old factory buildings, lovely service, and green surroundings offer experiences, peace, and romantic beauty for all the senses.

City Life
Great atmosphere on the evening, accompanied by karaoke and live music, in the local living room of the village. Experience and enjoy different tastes from the village and the world. You can also enjoy and buy coffee roasted in the house.
Hotel & Café Mathildedal

The idyllic eight-room hotel is located in front of Teijo National Park. The decoration of the hotel rooms follows the spirit of the past of the ironworks village with today's comforts. The rain shower makes the mind return to the calm surface of Matildansalmi. The beds at Unikulma lull you into a gentle sleep where thoughts may date back to the 19th century. After a well-slept night, it’s wonderful to wake up to a new day to continue your time travel.
PetriS Chocolate Room

The atmospheric old School of Mathildedal exudes the scent of chocolate and accommodates guests next to the National Park. In the café you can get confectionery products with special coffees and in the summer also lunch. From the chocolate shop, you can take the chocolate they make for you as gifts and souvenirs.
Mathildan Marina

Mathildedal’s award-winning guest harbor is located in the historic and lively ironworks village of Teijo National Park. The large amount of services offered by Mathilda Marina and other companies in the village will make you feel comfortable for a long time in all seasons. Their stylish, bright restaurant is A-licensed. The covered indoor terrace offers peaceful banquet facilities all year round, and the outdoor terrace is also suitable for groups to enjoy in summer. Mathildan Marina also has 6 modern and beautiful rooms to stay in.
Bicycle along the Finnish coastline and in the Finnish archipelago through amazing seaside landscapes. You will pass beautiful sceneries, forests, lakes, coastal beaches and small idyllic villages. You stay overnight in small hotels and B&Bs and relax yourself in Finnish saunas. Enjoy local fresh food and delicacies in the cafeterias and restaurants along the route.
Coastal route by bike
3 - 6 days
You can start this themed route either from the end or as mentioned, whatever fits your own schedule. The journey takes place from Noormarkku ironworks, through the villages of Leineperi, Kauttua, Teijo to Taalintehdas. The distance in one direction is about 260 km when following the straightest road. There are many cafés and restaurants along the ironwork routes, where you can sample locally produced delicacies. Historic ironworks environments and local food go well together.
