In the north part of Meiko, the rocky upland area is known as Dorgarn. The largest bog in the area is Slätmossen. In the southern area of Lake Meiko, there are water-clear forest ponds Vaipo and Vitträsk. The destination suits perfectly for day trips for the whole family all year round.

The parish history dates to the 14th century. Stone Age rock paintings and Bronze Age burial mounds represent the prehistoric ages. Museums not to be missed are Ragvalds and Alisgården. Visit the architectural gem Hvitträsk by Lake Vitträsk. Music and dance performances, art exhibitions, and the Pokrov Monastery are examples of cultural richness. The new library building Fyyri, also internationally renowned for its contemporary architecture, is located next to the medieval St. Michael’s church.
