Luosto, known for its old forests and idyllic log village, is located in the municipality of Sodankylä, about 40 kilometers from the municipality center of Sodankylä. The nearest airport and train station is in Rovaniemi. From Rovaniemi is a year-round bus connection to Luosto, which serves as a connection to flights and trains.

In Luosto you can hike in Pyhä-Luosto National Park, visit the Lampivaara amethyst mine, or relax in the Amethyst spa. The must thing to experience in Luosto is to visit the sustainable Lampivaara amethyst mine. The centre of Luosto is small, and all services are easily accessible on foot. Starting point to Pyhä-Luosto National Park, as well as the summer and winter trails, can be found in the vicinity of the Luosto ski slopes.
