Kirjurinluoto Park is the central park in Pori. It is an all-year-round recreational area for children and adults and only a five-minute walk from the market square. The famous Pelle Hermanni park in Kirjurinluoto is almost the size of five football pitches put together. It features a wide range of play area, slides and climbing frames suitable for alla ages. Access to the park is completely free of charge. Find your adventure in this green oasis!
Find out about the history of the city, step into the world of art and architecture, fall in love with the Kokemäenjoki river. There is lot to experience for culture lovers. Feel the jazz in wonderful summer events such as the Pori Jazz Festival. Take in the Ahlström Ironworks, including the world famous architect Alvar Aalto's Villa Mairea. There are tens of kilometres of trails for nature lovers with a wide range of scenery: sea, dunes, pine forests, crossing mires, nature observation towers and sandy forest paths. In the Bothnian Sea National Park you can explore fascinating outer islands.

Experience the magical parallel universe of Reposaari village at the Finnish Archipelago. The island's charming old wooden houses, the old church, local seafood restaurants and the exciting war-time fortress are only a few of the experiences available. Reposaari offers also stunning views to the open sea from the Takaranta shore. Takaranta shore is the place where locals go to spend leisure time and enjoy the sea. At the same trip you can enjoy also the romantic rocky shores of Kallo island and drive through charming village of Ahlainen.
Ahlström Ironworks
History & Architecture
The Ahlström Ironworks in Pori is one of Finland's largest and most magnificent ironworks areas. The area includes a high-quality hotel and restaurant as well as cultural tours. The world famous architect Alvar Aalto designed Villa Mairea in Pori and Terraced House in Kauttua, buildings in which everyday life merges with architecture, iconic design furniture, art and wellness. The guided tours "Under the roofs of Alvar Aalto" and "In Alvar Aalto`s footsteps" highlight the collaboration between Ahlström and Aalto.
Kirjurinluoto Park
City Life
Kirjurinluoto is central park in Pori and part of Finland`s national network of urban parks. Kirjurinluoto includes the famous Pelle Hermanni park which features a wide range of play areas suitable fo all ages! Kirjurinluoto has also a children's traffic park, sandy beach and fascinating hiking terrains. There is also a Hanhiluoto botanical garden which features plants that grow in the Satakunta region. In the summertime you can see alpacas, goats, ducks, roosters and peacocks and also enjoy wonderful summer events such like Pori Jazz festival.
You can start this themed route either from the end or as mentioned, whatever fits your own schedule. The journey takes place from Noormarkku ironworks, through the villages of Leineperi, Kauttua, Teijo to Taalintehdas. The distance in one direction is about 260 km when following the straightest road. There are many cafés and restaurants along the ironwork routes, where you can sample locally produced delicacies. Historic ironworks environments and local food go well together.
