History & Architecture

Admire the far-reaching landscapes of blue lakes, thick green forests, and hills. From the Vuokatti hill vista point you can see the municipality Sotkamo and enjoy beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The top of the hill is easily reachable by car and from the parking lot there is a short walk to the accessible vista point platform. The Vuokatti Hill hosts versatile marked hiking trails where you can enjoy the diverse nature and its offerings. Along the marked trails there are fireplaces maintained by the municipality.

Ski tunnel

Outdoor & Sports

The world's first ever ski tunnel in Vuokatti offer high-standard conditions for skiing all year round. The 1,2 km tunnel has elevation of 18m and. Air and snow conditions in the ski tunnel are maintained by using the latest computer technology. The temperature is maintained at -5 – -9 degrees. The tunnel is open during summertime but also during the winter if the temperature drops below -15C. The passes to ski tunnel can be purchased at Sports Institute reception desk.

Katinkulta Golf

In Katinkulta golf season opens in April-May and lasts usually till October. Midnight sun allows to stay up on the course till early morning. Everyone can use a simple 9-hole course, which doesn’t require green card. Renovated 9-hole club course Tenetti offers various hazards for experienced players and 18-hole Nuas course measures up to highest international standards. The practice area includes 5 practice greens, driving range and a bunker. Golf equipment shop and golf school can be found in the club building near Harmony Spa.

Hiukka Beach

Hiukka beach in Sotkamo is a perfect swimming spot and a place with magnificent views. This beach suits for swimming for the whole family. Sapsojärvi lake is shallow and comfortable to have fun in the water. In summer there is a cafe open. The beach area has a beach volleyball field and a tennis court a bit further away. There are convenient walking paths and nature trails starting from the beach. In winter these paths turn into ski trails. The lights installed at the Hiukka beach create a wondrous atmosphere when it gets dark.
