Multi-day ski & snowshoe tour in Pyhä-Luosto National Park takes the explorer across the unbroken snow of vast Aapa bogs and through the ancient forests. Skis used are short and wide, easy-to-maneuver wilderness skis with integrated climbing skins on the bottom of the skis. Skiers will pull ahkio sleds (also called pulka) for personal and/or group equipment, keeping the backpack weight low and adding the right kind of Arctic spirit. A Bliss guide will lead the tour and share his/her knowledge about the surrounding nature and wilderness travel tradition keeping it safe and sound at all times.
Skiers will spend the first night at a genuine Finnish wilderness hut in the middle of nowhere. A proper wood-heated sauna will be available. One can also grab the recommendable option of rolling in snow during the sauna session – rewarding for the both body and soul!
On the last day, the sometimes steep hills of the Pyhätunturi fell range await you on snowshoes.
This is a great opportunity to experience more challenging multi-day ski & snowshoe tour in the true Arctic wilderness. The explorer will learn wilderness skiing technique & strategy, how to pack the sled, the daily maintenance routine, weather factor, etc. During the ski & snowshoe tour you may also practice various Arctic skills with the Bliss guide, such as navigation in Taiga forest, use of the traditional puukko knife, fire making in cold, snowy environment, wilderness cooking methods, and so on.

The Bliss Adventure's wilderness skis of choice are so called “Altai skis”. They are short, easy-to-use forest skis that combines the best features of a ski and snowshoe. With a partial climbing skin integrated into the base, the ski climbs with ease. The skin also makes the ski slower and easier to control than traditional skis. The ski’s short, wide design makes it incredibly maneuverable, ideal for thick woods and variable terrain, a truly all-purpose backcountry tool.
From Rovaniemi, the closest airport and Santa Claus’ headquarters, it takes approximately two hours by car or by Skibus to reach us either in Pyhä (Hotel Pyhätunturi) or in Luosto (Lapland Hotel Luostotunturi).
