Finnish Lakeland
The area known as Finnish Lakeland is located between the east and center of the country. This area is known for its many lakes and variable sceneries. The number of lakes is something else, around 50% of the whole surface. The area is also known as a paradise for boaters and those traveling on water. Breathtaking views to the lakes and thousands of islands attract Finnish travelers to spend their vacation in the Lakeland, especially during summer.

Päijänne National Park
Take a stroll into the best preserved old-growth forests in Southern Finland. See 400-year-old pine trees that bear scars of ancient forest fires. Such forests give you a sense of timelessness, encouraging you to slow down and savour the natural scene. The residents of the old croft at Poika-aho surely told their children tales of the trolls and elves who lived out in the wild woods.

Pyhä-Häkki National Park
Sysmä has a very rich past. There are over 100 pre-historic relics found in Sysmä from the Stone Age to the end of the Iron Age which has been very significant in Sysmä's history. The Sysmä church and its environment have been an important place in the region of Päijät-Häme since 600AD. Over the decade's countless finds have been made in Sysmä, the latest ones being in 2000. The patron saint of Sysmä's medieval church from the years 1510-1520 is the eternal king of Norway, St. Olof.

Toivakka is a beautiful and growing municipality of 2,400 inhabitants located about half an hour away from Jyväskylä, on the water-front. Jylhä Päijänne and Leppälahti are a fisherman's dream. Toivakka also has the deepest point in Finland's inland waters, the Ristinselkä. Nature is present to us and even Queen Elizabeth II has enjoyed our rugged forests. Fans of the Crown series should head to Elizabeth's Forest, named in honor of the Queen. For tourists, Toivakka offers diverse accommodation options, food and a wide range of activities.

Follow in the hoofprints of wild forest reindeer on the Peuran Polku Trail. You might even spot some of these rare animals. The park's varied wild scenery includes rockstrewn pinewoods, open bogs and lakes full of tasty fish. Use the facilities at Koirasalmi as a base for exploring the wilds.

Salamajärvi National Park
Embraced by the glittering Lake Keitele, Viitasaari is a modern rural town where cultural activities and nature are valued. Enjoy the area's cultural events and the scenery of Järvisuomi. Experience the lush nature trails where you can see the rugged cliffs of Goliath and hear the chirping of local birds, such as the finch. The central location along highway nr. 4 offers the possibility of a day stop. If you want to stay longer, the homely accommodation and the peaceful rhythm of life guarantee a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

Kinnula locates in a scenic wilderness environment. The area has good possibilities for fishing and hunting but it is also very popular hiking area. The beautiful and clean nature is a key word to the location. Kinnula also attracts people with a museum demonstrating the war times of Finland. Its design is considered as a dwelling-house, a loft, a granary, a barn, a windmill, and a dugout shape. From the center of Kinnula, it takes more than 1 hour to reach the Salamajärvi National Park.

Pihtipudas is located in Central Finland along the quadrupeds. Come and admire Finland's most beautiful business station and tourist center, which is located on Niemenharju on the shores of Lake Kolima. Next to the tourist center is a historical natural site, the magnificent Niemenharju view ridge, which is bordered by pine trees, where you can go hiking, admire the Kolima waters and make observations of birds.

Laukaa is one of the oldest places in Central Finland. You can experience the nature here in multiple ways. The water routes of Saarijärvi, Viitasaari and Rautalampi merge in Laukaa. The confluence of the routes is in Saraavesi, on the shore of which are thousands of years old rock paintings of Sarakallio. Hyyppäänvuori is known to be the ‘’Koli’’ of the central Finland and it’s also valuable wilderness Natura 2000-area in terms of geology, landscape, flora and fauna.

Kivijärvi is in Suomenselkä, in northern parts of Central-Finland. Beautiful nature, lakes full of fish and friendly local people are welcoming you to our summer municipality. Kivijärvi is a popular summer holiday destination in this region because there are 89 lakes and several cottages. Spend your summer swimming in fresh lakes and hiking in the Salamajärvi national park and if you are lucky you might spot the famous wild deer.
